At Lane Library, books are organized according to Library of Congress (LC) Classification system. Topics in Philosophy are assigned to Class B according the the outline linked below.

Use a library catalog to find the books you need.

Search tips

  • Use quotes to search for phrases  example  "active learning"
  • Use * for wild card searches  example  creativ* will return create, creative, & creativity
  • Use AND, OR and NOT for boolean logic  example    ((biomedical AND engineering) NOT nuclear)
  • Note: AND, OR, NOT must be ALL CAPS

Using your GIL account

Log into your GIL account in order to:

  • Find the current GALILEO password
  • Renew books you have borrowed
  • Request books through GIL-Express
  • Create lists of books in the Favorites menu
  • See any fines charged for late or missing items

Be sure to check out the growing collection of books Lane Library has access to electronically.  They are all listed in the GIL Find catalog, but you can also search the Electronic Books link on the Lane Library home page.
